ADDICTION RODS

ADDICTION RODS   By SpiritualDictionary.com

In this meditation (1988) we talk about addiction. I’ve just gone into astral and I’ve seen a monk coming towards me with something in his hand. A Guide called Ishmael will channel through Miriam, who will correct any mistakes I make and add a bit of clarity. Geoff:  This is very confusing as always. I saw a lot of anger surrounding a thick metal post – the post is stuck in the ground. I removed the anger very quickly and the metal post is left. I’m trying to get something from this metal post. It’s like a memory rod. Miriam (Ishmael) It is, and this is Ishmael speaking. Geoff:  Welcome Ishmael….This is connected to addiction. Miriam (Ishmael) Yes. Geoff:  Addiction to different things, which are very hard to break away from. The addiction I’m seeing is something that people hate. They hate it because they are addicted to it, but at the same time they can enjoy it, that’s why the anger was built up around it. The addiction, whatever it is, people hate to be addicted to it but the cure for this hatred is to go and do whatever it is, so if you’re addicted to a drug for instance, you hate the addiction but the cure is the drug itself. It’s the same with gambling – you hate being addicted but you must gamble. There are many people who have addictions. An addiction or temptation to that addiction will always be there. It’s the person who has to change by getting a different outlook on the addiction and this is not easy at all. Miriam (Ishmael) Not easy friend, by any means. Geoff:  I’m seeing an example of somebody who is addicted, and spirit have surrounded him completely so that he is cut off from the addiction – cut off from the feeling of addiction, and they move back, back and back, far away from this addiction – addiction post – and all the time the person doesn’t feel any addiction, he feels that he is being helped, he feels he’s benefiting but as soon as spirit walk away, it’s like a magnet, he’s attracted to that addiction again. The only way you can get over the addiction is to turn your back round completely and look in the other direction. Miriam (Ishmael) Yes, there are no half measures. Geoff:  Now the feel of being drawn to this addiction is horrible. It means that you’re not in control of yourself. Miriam (Ishmael) That is true. Geoff:  If you start to walk away from the addiction….say you’ve got your back towards it and you start to walk away, if you look over your shoulder you’ll immediately be attracted by the addiction again. Miriam (Ishmael) Yes. Geoff:  And the longer you walk the further away from it you get- but it’s always there behind you – time will help. It’s always easy to get back to the addiction – but the feeling of this addiction, which I can feel now, is terrible. Miriam (Ishmael) People who try to recover from an addiction are always helped by those who have suffered from a similar fate. Geoff:  Yes. The spirit who are helping – all they are doing is creating a barrier between your back and the addiction, and you’re not sort of in touch with it. The barrier is just put there – it’s a sort of creamy coloured energy which makes a wall, which this addiction finds much harder to get through – this addiction energy, I suppose you’d could call it. It’s just a matter of continuing to walk away. And not only to continue to walk away but to find a substitute that will occupy the mind. Miriam (Ishmael) Yes, a substitute would be good. Geoff:  When you’ve beaten an addiction, you can then turn around and look at it and it has a reverse effect. Instead of it being an addiction, you’re building up a sort of pride in yourself saying that you have conquered this addiction and this makes you all the stronger. Miriam (Ishmael) Yes. Geoff:  You know all the time that this addiction is always there, but you would never ever dream of going back to it. When you’ve conquered it with your own mind then you get stronger and stronger. Miriam (Ishmael) And that is when you are in a position to help. Geoff:  The monk that brought this to me has got a beautiful face – he’s very – youngish, he’s very strong and very powerful. He’s helped many people with these addictions, and it’s his role in spirit life at the moment – this is all that he does because he himself was addicted to many things. He went through several lifetimes of addictions so he could understand it – it was his choice and now he helps others. He places something in front of me, which I thought was anger again, and I dissolved it, and now he’s placed something else there. It seems like a metal frame of some sort – it’s all twisted. I think this is the part of the addiction you carry with you. It’s like miniature memory rods. Miriam (Ishmael) Yes. Geoff:  A whole structure of them because when you are addicted, and the more you continue with this addiction, the more memories are stored in these rods. The only way you start to get rid of the addiction – you’ve got these rods inside you which are always there, and you’ve first of all got to get them out of your body. You’ll still have the attraction afterwards but the first thing to do is get them away, and the way to get them out is by making up your mind positively, mentally, and they’re removed and stay behind you. So the first decision has to be a mental one. Miriam (Ishmael) Yes. Geoff:  Then you can start on the process, but without that mental decision then the temptation would always be there. Miriam (Ishmael) No one can help you to start that first decision. It has to be your own. Geoff:  Yes, but once it is started there are many there that will help. Miriam (Ishmael) Yes. Geoff:  He says thank you for listening and understanding – and he then moves off.
