WHAT IS COLOUR THERAPY?

Colour therapy, also known as chromotherapy, is a holistic healing practice that uses colours to promote physical and emotional well-being. Based on the idea that different colours can influence mood and energy levels, this therapy aims to restore balance and harmony in the body by exposing individuals to specific wavelengths of light or incorporating certain colours into their environments.

Each colour has its own unique vibrational frequency and healing properties. For instance, blue is often associated with calmness and tranquility, making it useful for reducing stress, while red is energizing and stimulating, often used to boost manifestation, motivation and vitality.

Therapists may use coloured lights, oils and sprays, or visualizations to help individuals harness the benefits of colour.

How Colour Choices Reflect Personality

Beyond therapeutic contexts, the colours we choose in our daily lives can reveal significant insights into our personalities and emotional states.

For example:

  • Red: Those who gravitate towards red may be seen as passionate, assertive, and confident. This bold colour can indicate a strong desire for adventure and excitement.
  • Blue: Individuals who prefer blue often value calmness, trust, and reliability. It can suggest a peaceful disposition and a preference for stability.
  • Yellow: A love for yellow typically points to a cheerful and optimistic personality. This bright colour is associated with intelligence, self-confidence and joy.
  • Green: Those who choose green may be nurturing and balanced. This colour often represents a connection to nature and a desire for growth and renewal.
  • Pink: A love of the colour pink indicates an open hearted gentle soul, who gives a lot of themselves and yearns to receive love in the same way.

By understanding the colours we are drawn to, we can gain deeper insights into our emotional needs and psychological states. Whether used in therapeutic practices or simply as a personal expression, colour plays a crucial role in how we communicate who we are and how we feel. Embracing colour therapy and recognizing our colour preferences can lead to greater self-awareness and emotional healing.
